With reference to the healing of sin, disease, and death...

Dannebrog News

With reference to the healing of sin, disease, and death, Christian Science continues to point to the words and works of the Master. Jesus' experience on the cross did not save the world from sin, since sin in the world did not end then. If one has the spirit of Christ now, that spirit will be expressed in his works just as with the Master. Christ Jesus is the Saviour because of his showing to all the way they should go, but he did not claim that he did our work for us. The power of Christ is no less potent now than at the time of Jesus, and those who seek and accept the truth will find the spirit of Truth to be reflected in their life and works just as the sunlight expresses the quality of the sun from which it proceeds. The effect on mortals will be the healing of sin and disease; and nothing can restrict this righteous activity of divine Truth in human experience. The limitations and restrictions of the human so-called mind do not express the infinity of God; and Christian Scientists regard it as sacrilegious to suppose that God's power is in any manner, now or at any time, subordinate to, dependent on, any material condition, doubt, or fear. The Master clearly indicates the difficulty of mortals when praying, "O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee." Jesus did not regard himself as God, but prayed to the same God to whom we are admonished to pray. Mrs. Eddy writes on page 231 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures": "What God cannot do, man need not attempt. If God heals not the sick, they are not healed, for no lesser power equals the infinite All-power; but God, Truth, Life, Love, does heal the sick through the prayer of the righteous."

The Leader of the Christian Science movement did not expect that the adherents of this religion would at one bound make complete demonstration over all material limitations and beliefs. Her counsel always was that Christian Scientists in what they think and do should faithfully put into practice whatever of spiritual good they understand, and by holding their ground and gaining something more each day, eventually their redemption would be accomplished.
