Spiritual Receptivity
The quality of receptivity precedes the act of receiving. In order to receive, we must be truly receptive; that is, we must be willing to accept that which is offered to us. And as the quality of receptivity is established in our thinking, we shall always receive.
The student of Christian Science who has consciously begun to work out his spiritual freedom realizes that without the primary quality of receptivity he can experience no true progress, no real overcoming, and can record no permanent success. Receptivity is an open door leading to the recognition of God as good, and to a consequent realization of good in innumerable manifestations. All men desire to reach this goal, but not all have as yet established within their hearts this condition of spiritual receptivity.
Some who have turned to Christian Science seeking release from their sufferings may at times find it difficult to believe, and to cast aside all doubt. They may have striven for good, but have not as yet gained a right understanding of it. For a student who is thus striving for faith and understanding, it may be helpful to consider certain qualities akin to receptivity which aid in the realization of good.
