Eleven years ago I read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. It appealed to me more than anything I had or read before, but I did not think I needed it. A few months later, in July, 1919, I broke down with a stomach disoder and shattered nerves. I thought of using Christian Science, but was advised that I did not know enough about it, and that I had better get a doctor. I consulted two doctors, neither of whom was able to help me. I could not eat or sleep, nor could I rest for more than ten or fifteen minutes in one position. I became so weak I could hardly stand, and was in constant pain. After over three weeks of this discomfort I made my decision. I discarded the medicines and turned to Science and Health, trying to find relief. It was an uphill fight; I had no understanding, and could not keep quiet long enough to read much. Finally, about ten days later, in the morning about two o'clock, I got seated in a comfortable chair and began to read Science and Health. I presently fell asleep while reading and slept until daylight. In a few days more I began to eat regularly, and soon regained my normal strength. There has never been a return of the trouble.

Nine months later the smoking habit of twenty-two years' standing left me, and I have had no desire to smoke since. Frozen ears were healed a few minutes after I had declared the truth. A large sliver had been forced under a thumb nail while I was using a plane. By knowing the truth I was able to pull it out without feeling any pain, and the thumb was left perfectly normal.

I had a bad case of infection in my hand: the first finger had been lacerated by a dog's tooth. I did not cleanse it, and dirt got into the wound. I treated it myself for a week; then I decided to ask a practitioner for help. This was lovingly given; but the healing was slow, for error had crept in. The hand became inflamed and was painful for a number of days. Then one night I telephoned to the practitioner stating the condition of the hand. I said, "It does not pain any more, but the swelling seems to keep spreading." Her answer was, "We are going to know that with the help of God it will stop spreading;" it did, and the condition began to heal from that hour.
