When a child in the Christian Science Sunday School, I had a wonderful proof of the power of God's law through the healing of a condition of goiter. Before this took place I had had medical treatment for a year, during the whole of which time there was no improvement at all in the condition, and my activities were restricted. Then trust was put in God and His power to heal, and medical attention was dispensed with. From that time, although the healing was slow, the manifestation steadily disappeared; and during this period all normal work and activities were carried on. I have also been entirely freed from persistent biliousness and headaches, supposed to be hereditary.

"Trials are proofs of God's care," Mrs. Eddy tells us in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 66), and they lead to the gaining of an understanding of the divine Principle, which Mrs. Eddy says is forever "underlying, overlying, and encompassing all true being" (ibid., p. 496). To-day I feel deeply grateful for the wonderful guidance I have experienced when not knowing which way to turn. Always the right step has been taken and the way made plain. Although alone and away from home for some years, I have had happy surroundings; and many times God's protecting power has saved me from personal danger and accident.
