[Written for the Sentinel]

"Herein is love"

God sent not His dear Son to us in vain!
From out His heaven, He bids us love alway
Our neighbor as ourselves, and Him obey.
So should we do, striving that we regain
The more abundant life where Love doth reign,
Following the mandate of our God and King,
Making His law the fount from whence doth spring

True service based on Love! His meaning plain:
To such the comforter will come again.
If we do justly and maintain the right,
Thinking and acting as with Him in sight.
Thus guarded, guided, steadfast we remain;
Our lives shall with a heavenly radiance shine,
Good gifts our portion from a source divine.
