About four and a half years ago a sorrow came into my life. It occasioned great mental anguish, and this resulted in a physical breakdown. Bladder and liver trouble, also acute indigestion, put in their appearance. I could see that death was unreal, but I could not so readily see the unreality of malice, hatred, and injustice. Through this trouble my support was swept away, and I resented it; and I had to separate this from personality before I was healed. It took me some time to do this, but through the loving help of friends and practitioners I was healed both mentally and physically. Mrs. Eddy says that "the body will reflect what governs it, whether it be Truth or error, understanding or belief, Spirit or matter" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 324). One practitioner said to me, "You are only living in to-day, not yesterday or to-morrow, and God is taking care of you every minute." This helped me immensely to rise above despondency and discouragement. Out of this severe trial came many lessons, bitter at first, but sweet later. I know now that happiness is wholly spiritual, and that God supplies my every need. In my Father's storehouse there is neither lack nor limit. When the tares and wheat were separated in my consciousness, then came the harvest of peace and joy, and all my needs were met.

I am grateful to the dear practitioners who so patiently and lovingly helped me, and for the abundant aid I have received. Above all the physical healings, I am grateful to have learned that God does not send calamities upon us to discipline us, and that heaven and hell are not places, as I once believed. This was one of the first things Christian Science made clear to me. Deep gratitude goes out to Mrs. Eddy, and to Jesus the Way-shower.
