The Sunday School
What a wonderful gift to this age is the Christian Science Sunday School! Here childhood and youth gather on Sunday mornings to receive the truth and learn aright of God and His creation. On page 9 of "Pulpit and Press" our beloved Leader writes, "Ah, children, you are the bulwarks of freedom, the cement of society, the hope of our race!" What inspired words are these, and what a call to holy, consecrated work on behalf of the children! As the true idea of God is presented to the thought of the children week by week, it is impossible to conceive of the immeasurable influence for good this will have both on the child, and on the world.
The first Christian Science Sunday School was instituted on October 25, 1885, by Mrs. Eddy. What the children shall be taught in the Sunday school has been clearly set forth by her in the Manual of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts. The By-Laws governing and determining the teaching in the Sunday school of The Mother Church and in those of its branch churches may be found in Article XX of the Manual.
Parents are entitled to know that if they send their children to the Christian Science Sunday School of The Mother Church or one of its branches, in whatever part of the world it may be, the child can receive there only teaching from the Bible and from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.
