Soul's Resources

Mankind tenaciously holds to the sense of limitation which the so-called mortal mind imposes. And in proportion to the tenacity of this belief does it shut itself off from the grand possibilities which belong to the real man, God's idea. While many have believed in the ultimate blessedness of spiritual man, few, if any, before the revelation of Christian Science, grasped the possibilities for good within reach of all mortals, who will prepare to utilize the good at hand.

Mrs. Eddy makes an unqualified statement regarding this universal availability of good which is worthy of thoughtful consideration. On page 60 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" she writes, "Soul has infinite resources with which to bless mankind, and happiness would be more readily attained and would be more secure in our keeping, if sought in Soul." In these words our Leader assures us that not only does God, Soul, have infinite capacities for blessing us, but these blessings are constantly available for our use. Sometimes, it seems, Christian Scientists, while holding firmly to the teachings of our Leader as to man's perfect state, infinitely and eternally blessed by a loving Father-Mother God, yet feel that, since these blessings belong to God's image, they are not to be brought into human experience, into present realization. Our Leader's words quoted above utterly refute this erroneous conclusion. For we learn in Christian Science that the perfection which belongs to man by right of his divine sonship is available to us now, is possible of present demonstration and thereby may be brought into present realization.

The marvelously appealing interpretation of the vision of the Revelator which our Leader sets forth on pages 572—574 of Science and Health closes with these significant words: "This spiritual consciousness is therefore a present possibility." Not something to be gained only at a future time, but now! Were not the words of Jesus on this subject also conclusive? "And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive." "All things" is a most inclusive term, and yet we are assured by the Master himself that if we ask aright and in full faith, we shall receive now of the infinite resources which Soul has for those who have learned to hold thought in the attitude of righteous prayer.
