Extracts from Reports of Christian Science Committees on Publication for the Year Ended September 30, 1928

Queensland, Australia.

The work during the past year has had a somewhat wider scope in its usefulness than formerly, replies being published farther afield than the metropolitan papers. Extracts from The Christian Science Monitor, with full credit given to it, are freely used in Brisbane daily newspapers. During the period under review an untrue advertisement attacking the legitimate standing of The Mother Church and its Directors was published in one of the Brisbane daily papers. A call on the management was made and a letter of correction submitted which was subsequently printed with apologies for having printed the truthless advertisement. One letter of correction sent to a North Queensland paper supplied an opportunity to send a specimen copy of the Monitor with an offer of one a week for three months if it was welcome.

Another editor took from some overseas periodical an article of "weird" doings of a Christian Scientist, for his country paper. He was made the same offer as the editor previously referred to and to-day is a keen and grateful Monitor reader—so is his family. To show his appreciation he reciprocates by sending every week a copy of his paper. Recently he called and asked if Monitors could be sent to the technical editor of a broadcast weekly, as he had interested him in radio articles, and did not like cutting them out of his copies. His request was granted, and already this Broadcast Bulletin has published radio articles from the Monitor, stating from what they were taken.
