In a time of great trouble I turned to Christian Science...
In a time of great trouble I turned to Christian Science for consolation, and found a God who would help and heal and reveal what true loving means. I am very grateful for the awakening from the dream of life in matter with all its false conditions, and for the unfoldment of spiritual truths. Through the study of the Bible and of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy I have been healed of frequent attacks of biliousness, and of severe headaches from which I had suffered since childhood. I have been helped in innumerable ways, sometimes through the loving work of a practitioner. In the bringing up of my children, Christian Science has been of the greatest benefit.
One of the healings for which I feel the deepest gratitude is that of intense fear. The understanding I have gained of the "perfect love" which "casteth out fear" has enabled me to accomplish things I never dreamed possible. On one occasion, when the electric meter fused and burned through the main gas pipe setting the gas alight, I was able—through the realization of the ever-presence of God—to stretch across the huge roaring flame and turn off the gas without receiving the slightest scorch. I had found the gas meter key only three days previously: "Before they call, I will answer." The expert who was called in to examine the meters said that in a few minutes nothing could have saved the house from utter destruction.
The works of Mrs. Eddy and our periodicals are a source of unfailing comfort, and I am increasingly grateful to God for having given us our inspired Leader, who has taught us to rely on Him alone, and prove for ourselves that the words and works of Christ Jesus were for all times and for all people. My great desire is to help others as I have been helped.
