Report from the Field

[From the Report of the Committee on Christian Science Activities at Folsom State Prison, Represa, California, and Preston School of Industry, lone, California]

Christian Science activities in Folsom State Prison and Preston School of Industry have been carried on with increased interest, and their healing influence has extended farther during the year 1928 than in any year since the work began. More men have asked for and received treatment for bodily ailments than in any other like period of time. A large number have become regular readers of The Christian Science Monitor. The other Christian Science periodicals are being read regularly, and the Bible and the writings of our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, are being studied by many. Services are held each Sunday. The average attendance is eighty-five at Folsom and forty at Preston. Two testimony meetings were held at Folsom, and many interesting testimonies of healing were given. An efficient system of Christian Science literature distribution is carried on by the inmates who are students of Christian Science. Grateful acknowledgement is made for the literature furnished by the Churches of Christ, Scientist, particularly to those outside of this immediate field.

At this time we are furnishing the following literature to Folsom and Preston: The Christian Science Monitor, 79; The Christian Science Journal, 20; Christian Science Sentinel, 31; Der Herold der Christian Science, 3; Le Heraut de Christian Science, 8; Christian Science Quarterly, 190.
