On the evening of August 18, 1926, I attended a Wednesday evening testimony meeting, and came home apparently in the best of health. During the early hours of the next morning, my daughter-in-law was awakened by hearing a choking, gurgling sound coming from my room. She hurried in to find me in a state of coma, with blood coming from my mouth. She called to me and tried to arouse me, but could not make me answer. A neighbor was called in and a medical doctor sent for. He said that I had had a stroke of paralysis and that the left side was affected. After an examination and taking my age, which was eighty years, into consideration, he said that there was no possible chance for me to get well, and that the only thing they could do was to keep me perfectly quiet and make me as comfortable as they could. He said that I would not live more than an hour at most.

A Christian Science practitioner was sent for and came and gave me treatment. Within a few minutes I could speak. I had treatments daily for about two weeks, and within three weeks was able to go to services and do things as before. I am now enjoying better health than I have in months gone by. I am grateful to our heavenly Father, who is the same yesterday, to-day, and forever, and to our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for her beautiful work.
