The Lectures

Introductions to Lectures

Jerseyville, Illinois (Society).

Lecturer: W. Stuart Booth; introduced by Mrs. Lucia O. Du Hadway, who said:—

Christian Science is not a theoretical but a practical religion, founded on the truths of the Bible. How few realize that these truths are practical for us to-day! In John we find these words: "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." For every promise of the Bible there is always a condition to fulfill in order to receiver the promised reward. Jesus says in Matthew: "Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? . . . But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." For years I suffered from what doctors called nervous prostration and sick headache. I began the study of Christian Science, seeking a true knowledge of God, not thinking of myself, and suddenly I found I was free from nervous prostration; and I cannot remember when I have had a sick headache.
