The Lectures

Ashtabula, Ohio (First Church).

Lecturer: W. Stuart Booth; introduced by Charles James Starkey, Jr., said:—

One of the last earthly utterances of Jesus the Christ, as recorded in the Gospel according to Mark, was, "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; the shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." It seems to me that Christian Science has come in fulfillment of that command. Christian Science does save from sin, disease, and death. It does cast out the devils of error; and it does speak with "new tongues." Yes, multitudes of afflicted have recovered, and are well and happy to-day, by reason of its healing truths. All that I am I owe to Christian Science. To me and to my family, in place of pneumonia, diphtheria, tuberculosis, and a great many other ills, it has given health and happiness, and an everlasting gratitude to our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science.
