Christian Science was first brought to my notice in England in 1916, while serving with the British navy. Shortly after this I was takne to a naval hospital with a very serious illness; but through the treatment of a loving practitioner I was quickly healed, and reported for duty much sooner than was expected.

Some years ago I had influenza and high fever. I did not have a doctor, but through my wife's reading of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy I was completely healed in half an hour, and that night attended a Wednesday evening testimony meeting, walking three and a half miles to church and back.

Since then I have had healings in Christian Science, which has been my only physician for the last ten years. It has healed me of many of the ills that mortal mind lays claim to. I am grateful for the Christian Science lectures and for the Wednesday evening meetings, where we are able to give thanks to God, to Christ Jesus, and to Mrs. Eddy for this wonderful truth that is healing the world.

I should like to tell of the wonderful protection I experienced lately. I was chief officer of an oil tanker. We were in a very bad place in which to anchor, and had to use both anchors and moor the stern to the wharf; and we had to take a floating pipe line on board. On arrival I was ordered to let go the starboard anchor; but when I opened the brake, the anchor would not drop. The captain then came forward and found that the fifteen-fathom shackle was out and the end hanging loose. If the anchor had gone, the cable would have lashed the deck where the carpenter and I were standing, and this would undoubtedly have meant certain death to us both. It took nine of us six hours to adjust the cable, and then when the brake was released, the anchor worked perfectly. The first thing the captain said, before the whole crew, was: "Well, you certainly have a guardian angel looking after you. I shall never understand why that anchor did not go." For this protection I am very grateful, and I am learning more and more every day that as we turn away from material things to the spiritual, we are protected and cared for.
