For many years I had attended a Protestant Sunday school...
For many years I had attended a Protestant Sunday school, but not until I studied in the Christian Science Sunday School did I gain that knowledge of God which is enabling me to work out my own salvation. The first Sunday there I learned more about God than I had ever known before.
While just a beginner in the study of Christian Science I had a wonderful proof of God's loving power and care. I fell asleep with my foot resting on a metal bar which was a few inches in front of a fireplace, and awakened with a great sense of pain to find my shoe burning. The toes on my foot were also burned. The little understanding of God gained in the Sunday school from the lessons taught form the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, gave me childlike faith, and without fear of any kind I was able to master this difficulty without calling for help from a practitioner. I was able to go down town the following day in the street car, and in three weeks new flesh had grown and my foot was normal. It has never troubled me since.
I am deeply grateful to Mrs. Eddy for this great truth regarding God and man, and for the many channels she has opened whereby we, too, may help our brother. I am grateful for the privilege of being a member of The Mother Church and of one of its branches, and for work in the Sunday school; also for class instruction.
