In the year 1900 I was afflicted with a very sever abdominal rupture, for which I underwent an operation with seeming success; but in 1903 it was again found (according to the medical profession) necessary to operate. This also seemed to promise success, but proved to be only a false hope. From 1904 to 1921 I suffered constantly, and at times so severely that it was not possible for me to perform my regular duties, although I always wore an appliance of one kind or another for relief, with variable success. In the fall of 1921 a member of my family who had been healed by Christian Science of a difficulty of eighteen years' standing, asked a practitioner for help for me, and relief was obtained. I discarded the mechanical appliances at once (and the remarkable thing is I did it unconsciously), and have had no use for them since.

Through the study of the Bible in connection with "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I am learning to overcome my shortcomings, which violated divine law.
