Among the Churches

Current Notes

Chicago Heights Star

Chicago Heights, Illinois (First Church).—The handsome new edifice of First Church of Christ, Scientist, located on Fourteenth Street at Edgewood Avenue, has now been formally opened. The location is one of the most desirable in Chicago Heights for a church structure; and with its beautiful background and striking architectural details the building has commanded wide admiration. The main architectural feature of the exterior is the portico above the front entrance door. The material used on the exterior is an artificial stone which closely resembles Travertine stone, found in Greece and Italy. The auditorium proper, directly behind the foyer, will seat more than three hundred people; it is large and high, with abundant light and ventilation.
