[Written for the Sentinel]

Abba, Father

Abba, Father, ere Thy light
Pierced the darkness of my night,
Blind, estranged, I seemed to roam,
Far away from love and home;
But since Truth hath shown Thee nigh,
Abba, Father! now I cry.

Abba, Father! Precious name!
Kinship now with Thee I claim,
Happy place in Thy household,
Tender keeping in Thy fold.

On my head Thy mercies shine;
Heir am I to all of Thine.
Heir with Christ to boundless wealth—
Love and joy and peace and health.
Child of Love, oh, blest am I!
Abba, Father! now I cry.

Abba, Father! Holy name!
Kinship now with Thee I claim,
Happy place in Thy household,
Tender keeping in Thy fold.
