When I was a young girl Christian Science came into our home, and through my dear father and mother I learned of this religion which blesses and heals. I had read and heard of instantaneous healings, but the first one I ever witnessed was in my own home, when our son was about four years old. He became seriously ill. The others in the home, being much opposed to Science, called a doctor; but he seemed unable to do much for the child. He left some pills, which I well knew would never heal. I was filled with sadness and fear; all I could say or do was to repeat, "O God, help me; show me the way; give me strength." The little one, it seemed, was passing away. Then all at once the others left for a short time, but long enough for me to send a telephone call to a near-by town to a Christian Science practitioner for help. Never shall I forget her message of love and encouragement. It seemed just a few minutes until the boy opened his eyes and said, "A drink of milk, mamma," and got out of his bed—healed.
Some of my own problems have not been so quickly solved; but I am indeed thankful for the many lessons learned, for I was much in need of them. I am assured that no material means of any kind could ever have helped me. Never can I be thankful enough for Christian Science and to Mrs. Eddy, who gave the world this wonderful blessing. And my heart is full of love to the practitioners who so lovingly and untiringly helped me along the way. My daily prayer is that I may so live as to be worthy of name Christian Scientist. I am grateful to be a member of The Mother Church.—(Mrs.) Lola Guise, Lebanon, Kansas.
