An announcement was recently published in your paper in which Christian Science was spoken of as a cult. Once cannot stigmatize Christian Science, unless he has failed to appreciate its plain teachings. To quote all the available proof that it is a religion would require a book; it is sufficient to draw attention to the tenets of Christian Science, on page 497 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. There it will be found that "we acknowledge and adore one supreme and infinite God," taking "the inspired Word of the Bible as our sufficient guide to eternal Life." If subscribing to these truths merits characterization as a cult, then we should be quite at a loss to know what would be necessary to entitle Christian Science to be regarded as a religion.
