While at a camp in Maine I stepped on a small stone, turning my ankle completely over. The pains, shooting way above the knee, were very intense. I went to work in Christian Science instantly, knowing that there can be no accidents in God's kingdom, and that nothing can come to God's image and likeness but what comes from God. In five minutes all sense of pain had disappeared and I went back to camp. That afternoon I climbed a mountain, a tramp of at least eight miles. I felt very grateful for my understanding of Science, feeling sure that without it a badly sprained ankle would have been the result.
The children have had many healings—of measles, whooping cough, colds, and diphtheria. When our boy was about three years old he dislocated his shoulder. A practitioner was asked for help, and when the doctor set the shoulder he was much amazed because the boy suffered no pain; for in medical belief this is a very painful thing to have done.
For two summers our daughter has had the privilege of being at a girls' camp conducted by Christian Scientists. As she has no friends at home who are interested in Christian Science, this opportunity of being among Scientists for the summer has meant a great deal of growth for her, and we have been very grateful for it.
