Christian Science found me through the recommendation...
Christian Science found me through the recommendation of a loving Christian Scientist who proposed its healing for my father, who was at that time suffering severely from rectal trouble. The prayers of a Christian Science practitioner were requested, and within two weeks my father was beautifully healed. To me this was marvelous, to say the least, and I cannot express in words the joy and gratitude that came into our home through this healing. Immediately I began to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and before I had finished the chapter on Prayer, I was healed of what I had thought were bilious attacks, and have never had a return of the trouble.
A few years later I experienced a more wonderful healing through God's loving care and protection during an illness that to mortal sense seemed very acute and stubborn. Again the prayers of a Christian Science practitioner were asked for and were lovingly given, and in each instance relief was manifest. Just at this time my husband had accepted a position in a near-by city, and this necessitated our moving at once, which without Christian Science help would have been impossible for me. After our arrival at this post it seemed necessary, because of some members of the family who were not interested in Christian Science, to have a diagnosis made. This resulted in the declaration that I was about to pass on, and had but a few hours to live on account of loss of blood. This report did not frighten me, for immediately there came to me these words from Science and Health (p. 518): "Love giveth to the least spiritual idea might, immortality, and goodness, which shine through all as the blossom shines through the bud." In pondering these words, regardless of what was going on about me, I gained the assurance that all of God's ideas, from the least to the greatest, are maintained and sustained through Mind, which is supreme in our physical existence, so called, as well as in the spiritual.
This took place within the space of a very few hours; and as soon as possible the prayers of a Christian Science practitioner were again asked for. Within four days I sat up in bed and wrote to the home folk regarding my recovery; and within fourteen days I walked a short distance, much to the surprise of those who had informed me I would be unable to get out for at least two months, and that even then permanent recovery was doubtful. So-called mortal law was beautifully overcome through Christian Science, proving that evil is not power. During this experience the angel thoughts were so clear to me that I knew nothing could separate me from my Father-Mother God. This trust and faith, which aided me so greatly, had no association with fear or doubt.
