In the "Social and Personal" columns of your recent issue Christian Science and Coueism are coupled as having the same foundation. May I be allowed to state that this is not correct. Coueism is a system of autosuggestion wherein mortal consciousness is regarded as the healing factor, whereas Christian Science derives its power from God, the Mind of Christ, which is the diametric opposite of the carnal mind. Mortal consciousness is the cause of all disease; but Christian Science operates through spiritual law, destroying this false sense by awakening humanity to the realization of the fact that man is spiritual and inseparable from God, and, therefore, is not subject to sin, disease, and death. This realization heals both mentally and physically. Christian Scientists by no means claim to have attained a full understanding of this truth, but they are grateful that even a degree of this understanding works wonders for mortals.
