I had been interested in Christian Science for several years, but did not take up the earnest study of it until a great sorrow came into my life. It seemed to me then that I had lost all that was worth while; and I was so despondent that my own death would have seemed welcome.
I was led to ask a Christian Science practitioner for help, which was most lovingly given. While I was having treatment, I studied the Bible, together with Mrs. Eddy's writings, very earnestly. I was completely healed of the belief of sorrow and separation, and experienced a very wonderful sense of enlightenment and peace. I learned that man can never be separated from God, good. At that time I did not think I was in need of physical healing. However, through the study and application of Christian Science, I have been healed of chronic sick headaches, a tendency to take cold, extreme nervousness, kidney trouble, and many other discordant conditions.
Before taking up the study of Christian Science, I maintained a great dislike for business responsibility. I would avoid coming into contact with anything pertaining to business. These affairs had always been taken care of for me, but I found myself suddenly left with a very entangled estate, including indetedness and many other undesirable features. The problem of lack and limitation was facing me. The healing of this seemed rather slow, but I rejoice that during this period many valuable lessons were learned. I realized that I had been believing that material wealth was substance.
