I wish to express my gratitude for the many blessings which the study of Christian Science brings to me daily.

On several occasions during the summer months when my children, two boys, have gone barefoot, they have stuck rusty nails into their feet. I was not afraid of lockjaw or blood poisoning, even though on two of these occasions the error tried to manifest itself in a way alarming to mortal thought. When Science was applied, the demonstration of peace and harmony was made without the aid of a practitioner. Twice they have been bitten by a cross and vicious dog, the torn flesh showing the full imprint of the teeth. Both times I was calm and peaceful, and able to declare the truth for them. There was no swelling, no inflammation, and little discoloration. My peace was wonderful, for I was in the consciousness of God's all-power and ever encircling arm.

I had been studying Christian Science several months when for the first time I endeavored to make practical use of it. Our youngest son was knocked down by a swiftly moving bicycle, the handle-bar striking him full in the eye and laying him flat in the street. The boy on the wheel picked him up and brought him to me. The child's eye was entirely closed and badly swollen, the lid was slashed and bleeding, and it was already badly discolored. I telephoned a neighbor who is a Scientist to come quickly, which she did. She then read to us from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and talked to us, and soon the child stopped crying. We felt no need of material remedies—only the truth about God. Although the swelling was slow in leaving, there was no pain, no fear; and the discoloration did not spread.
