Gratitude

How may we best express
Our gratitude to God,
Whose love and tenderness,
Whose kind, correcting rod,
Have His protection brought
E'en when we knew it not?

Let every word we say,
Let every act we do
In humble work each day,
As we the crowds pass through,
Be full of kindness sweet,
To gladden all we meet.

Let every thought be true
To the highest good we know;
And daily strive anew
In love and grace to grow;
More truth to gain that we
May others help set free.

In every brother-man
God's image we can see,
And His unfolding plan
For life eternally.
Thus, by our lives we may
Show gratitude alway.
