I was healed through Christian Science, about twelve...
I was healed through Christian Science, about twelve years ago, of a condition from which the doctors had been unable to free me. My healing came quickly; and when it was accomplished I was very grateful, but quite ignorant of how it had been brought about. I have spent some time since then in studying the Bible and our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and have found that there is a law of God which is applicable to problems here and now; that in proportion to our understanding and application of this law our health, our peace, and our shelter from the storms are assured. My first healing was of chronic bowel trouble. I was also healed of a bad condition of the heart, and many other physical ailments. I thank God for these healings. Each one has been a stepping-stone to bring me nearer to an understanding of Him "whom to know aright is Life eternal," as our Leader says on page vii of the Preface to Science and Health.
I am grateful for all that I have proved; I am grateful for the greater proving that is awaiting me when my thought is still more receptive. I am grateful for the realization that God is divine Principle, ever present, unchangeable; that the doing of His will is inevitable, and whatever the carnal mind, that mind which is "enmity against God," may attempt, it is only God and His law which is real and will be done; that the overturning will continue, "until he come whose right it is." I am more grateful every year for Mrs. Eddy and her wonderful gifts to mankind. I realize more fully her great love for us and her sure understanding of God. I am grateful for the faithful ones who are working in His vineyard for the periodicals, and especially for our good, clean, wholesome daily paper, The Christian Science Monitor.—(Mrs.) Ella Abbott, Oak Park, Ill.
