There appeared in your issue of March 27 a report of a meeting held at the Royal Pavilion, Brighton, under the auspices of the Guild of Health. The chairman said, "The Guild of Health Movement drew attention to faith in God—not a faith healing which threw God out under the title of what was called Christian Science." Instead of throwing God out, as is averred, Christian Science has promoted such a recognition of Him, of His presence and power, His might, love, and wisdom, that this understanding by its adherents has been found to be operative and demonstrable every moment of their lives. In every trouble, in every temptation, in sickness as well as sin, the Christian Scientist turns from his trials and perplexities to God, for he has proved that to know Him is to be pure and good, healthy and free,—is life itself. "This is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou has sent." To adore and worship this "only true God," from whom emanates all good, to honor the Son, the Christ, using and applying the truth he revealed as far as they understand it in the healing of sin and disease, is the vital, fundamental action and prayer of all Christian Scientists. They realize that the healing works of Jesus and the disciples were accomplished by neither suggestion nor any other agent of the human mind, but by the revelation of spiritual ideas. It is their endeavor to follow the Way-shower and practice the truth he revealed by penetrating the surface of false, material, temporary concepts, and finding the solid rock of true existence—God's creation. Thus they prove, in the words of the Psalmist, "All thy works shall praise thee." When the blinding veils of bias and prejudice are removed, and the ignorant, wild statements regarding its teachings are dispelled, Christian Science will be seen to be the great friend of all mankind, that which has brought again to human apprehension the knowledge of a power above and beyond ourselves to heal and save. In the opening paragraph of the Preface to "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. vii) Mrs. Eddy says, "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings."
