Among the Churches

Rockland County Leader

Spring Valley, N. Y. (First Church).—Ground has just been broke for the new building of First Church of Christ, Scientist, which is to be erected on the southwest corner of Main Street and Central Avenue. This property, measuring one hundred and thirty-five by one hundred and fifty feet, was purchased by that organization as a building site in 1919, and is considered one of the best locations in town. The church building is to be of hollow tile, covered with light colored stucco, and is so arranged that the auditorium, the Sunday school, and the Reading Room are all on the main floor. The auditorium, having a seating capacity of one hundred and seventy-five persons, has been planned so that every person seated will face the rostrum.

In May, 1921, First Church of Christ, Scientist, Spring Valley, New York, was organized and incorporated to succeed the Christian Science Society of Spring Valley, it being then decided that the growth of the organization warranted the additional duties and privileges of that forward step.—Rockland County Leader.
