About three years ago I became interested in Christian Science...
About three years ago I became interested in Christian Science enough to follow its teaching as given by our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, although I had read some of her works previous to that time.
After the birth of my first child, a boy now about six and a half years old, I underwent a number of serious experiences. I was nearly always under the care of a physician; was in almost constant fear; was extremely nervous; and suffered from catarrh and periodical headaches. Added to the complaints already enumerated I was susceptible to tuberculosis. The physician attending me did not have the courage to tell me what his fears were, but he told my husband. My little boy was prematurely weaned, although he was thriving well while nursing. Then I was worried about him, fearful lest he should be sickly. All this finally culminated in a condition so serious that peritonitis and another almost fatal malady developed, and I was rushed to the hospital for a serious operation. After returning to my home I commenced to read Christian Science literature and to attend the Sunday services and Wednesday evening meetings. Later, I became a member of a branch church and also of The Mother Church; and I have been a teacher in the Sunday school, and a member of the Distribution Committee.
All the discordant conditions of which I have written have been healed through Christian Science, and I am now in the best of health. Seven months ago I gave birth to a baby girl, although warned some years ago that I should be in great jeopardy if I again underwent childbirth. The discords that formerly harassed me have been dissolved into nothingness, and to my consciousness there has come the peace that passeth understanding,—all through the knowledge that all is Mind, the one infinite Mind, and therefore there is no room for aught else.
