The True Life

The only joy that we can feel,
Is that of loving, knowing good;
The only heaven we can find,
Is God, our Father, understood.

The only wisdom we can claim,
Is knowledge, true, that Jesus taught;
The only substance we can see,
Is Love, unfolded in our thought.

The only wealth—though we may own
The jewels from the earth's great heart—
Is wealth of knowing what we are,
And far from worldly thoughts apart.
