The Lectures

Sevenoaks, England (Society).—Charles W. J. Tennant made the following prefatory remarks to a lecture by George Shaw Cook:—

Some nineteen hundred years ago Christ Jesus, the great Way-shower, said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." This simple, profound statement can be understood and demonstrated through the study of Christian Science. Twenty-one years ago I was in terrible mental and physical bondage, suffering from what the physicians called an incurable disease. I had undergone many surgical operations, and was all the time getting weaker. In fact, a prominent doctor in Vienna told me he did not think I would live more than two months. I then heard of Christian Science; and through the careful study of the Bible, together with the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I was completely healed in a comparatively short time; and since then Christian Science has met my every need. There are millions throughout the civilized world to-day who are glad to express their gratitude to God for having obtained their freedom from bondage of every description through the beneficent influence of Christian Science.
