[Written for the Sentinel]

Lead Thy Captivity Captive

Not in the paths of human peaceDoth Love proclaim the captive free;Nor where exultant crowds increaseHath Christ his hidden embassy.Oh, when the many speak of might,Kneel thou to Love; hunger and thirst for right.

Thine eyes shall see the legions ledBy Michael to thine inward war;Thine heart shall know that sin is fled,As Gabriel doth peace restore.Until the breaking of the day,Michael shall fight and Gabriel ever pray.
