I would like to acknowledge with gratitude the good and...
I would like to acknowledge with gratitude the good and healing that we have received since coming into Christian Science. It was in January, 1918, that we were led into this true light through the healing of our little daughter. We had taken her to a well-known physician in a near-by city for the examination of a growth and swelling on her face, which had been there for about three months. He examined her and also had an X ray taken of the growth. It was pronounced a tumor and the only hope that he could give was an operation that would disfigure the child for life. I had been raised in Science and had witnessed the healing done by Christian Science in my own case and others, but had drifted away, and, to be honest, had thought it was too hard to practice and that I could get along without it. We decided to turn to Christian Science for help, as we were at the point of despair. We called on a practitioner the next day, and through her loving and tireless work the child was healed. The healing was seemingly slow but it made us strive the more.
We are grateful for this healing and especially to Mrs. Eddy, who has given to the world the truth that we can apply in our daily work. Last year I was able, through the understanding of my wife and myself, to overcome an attack of influenza while at work; I have been healed of insomnia and other claims. The desire for tobacco has vanished through the study of this Science, and other habits are also being overcome as more is understood and put into practice. I am grateful for the authorized literature, also for class instruction, which has enabled me to see more clearly the truth as revealed in Christian Science.
