Once
in time of dearth Elijah came
To a widow at Zarephath's gate;
And he, the man of God, asked her to make
A little cake for him, before she ate.
She had so little oil, so little meal, —
Yet quickly she obeyed
The voice of Truth that whispered, Give me first!
And from that moment she was duly fed.
For Love supplies all good to them that share
The blessings they receive.
Think not that you are poor. Love is enough!
As freely you receive, so freely give!
