I should like to give some idea of the help Christian Science...

I should like to give some idea of the help Christian Science has been to me during the war. One night on the way to England I woke up with all the symptoms of influenza. I was familiar with the indications of this disease, having previously spent some time in the Army Medical Corps. As we were in the submarine zone it was impossible to obtain any light in order to read the Christian Science literature; but I got out of bed and went away by myself to a comparatively quiet part of the deck and for about an hour thought over all the statements of Christian Science I knew or could remember. At the end of that time I felt much better and happier and so went to sleep again. Next morning I awoke without a trace of the disease. I felt very grateful, not only on account of the physical healing but also for the conviction that Christian Science is really a practical help in time of need.

Previous to this helpful experience I had been feeling dejected, having, as it seemed, left behind me home and friends and everything that made life worth living and having to look forward to unknown dangers and hardships. After this, however, I began to feel much happier with regard to the experiences I might have to go through. I would also like to take this opportunity of expressing my thanks to the members of the churches in England who have always extended such a loving welcome to strangers.

I can never say adequately how thankful I am for the teachings of Christian Science. It has changed the whole course of my life, and in this small testimony to the efficacy of its teachings I feel that the half has not been told.
