It is ten years since I first took up the study of Christian Science. I had spent two months in the hospital, coming home scarcely able to sit up and my physician saying that I would doubtless have to return in the course of a year and have another operation. At that time a friend who was being healed in Christian Science handed me a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and asked me to read it. I read it through carefully, but could not seem to understand it and handed it back, saying that it did not look reasonable to me.

I lingered along several months more, being able to sit up but very little and becoming so despondent that I spent a good share of my time crying. At last, not knowing which way to turn, I consented to give Christian Science a trial. I have never regretted it. I would not go back to the old thought, for the world. My healing was slow, although one quite serious trouble was overcome with the first treatment, which proved to me that Christian Science is the truth which Christ Jesus said should make us free. During these ten years I have taken no medicine and have been healed of many troubles, among them being a goiter of many years' standing; for all of which I am very grateful.
