One afternoon, toward the end of November, 1915, I was in my kitchen, which measures only about eight feet by nine and has one whole side of glass. The window was closed and I was standing in the middle of the room when a tremendous detonation occurred. Instantly all the glass of the doors and windows was reduced to splinters in an indescribable whiz which I shall never forget. All the furniture was incrusted with glass and the floor heaped with debris. My whole apartment was in the same condition, and I did not know where to move. The cause of this was an explosion about one hundred meters from my house. Many people were seriously hurt, and I was the only one left quite unharmed. Once again I had been protected by divine Love, which, as Christian Science has taught me, surrounds us constantly.
It was about twelve years ago that I heard of Christian Science through a relative, but not knowing English I worked mainly with the Bible, a book which was quite new to me at that time. I have derived my ideas about protection especially from the ninety-first and the twenty-third psalm. I am happy to attend the Sunday services and Wednesday evening meetings, where I hear a French translation about the power of Truth. I have received innumerable blessings since I began to put into practice the teachings of Christian Science, and my life has been completely transformed by it. This testimony is given with a heart full of gratitude.
