Before taking up the study of Christian Science I suffered...
Before taking up the study of Christian Science I suffered much from sensitiveness, thinking that people did not like me and were slighting me. Now it is so different; because of my changed thought about everything I find people loving and lovable. Shortly after becoming interested in Christian Science I was attacked by a heavy cold. For several days I tried to overcome it, but with no apparent result. One afternoon, after I had been reading Mrs. Eddy's "Miscellaneous Writings" for half an hour or so, I put away the book, and did not think of my cold again until that evening, and then only to discover that it had entirely left me. On several occasions I have been healed instantaneously of severe pain. A short time ago a badly ulcerated tooth, which had made one side of my face swell to about twice its normal size and which caused discoloration around one eye, was healed in a few days, the pain ceasing a few hours after the practitioner was called.
I am gradually learning that if, when confronted by sin, sickness, or discord of any kind, I just cling to the truth about God, and man made in His image and likeness,—hold to the spiritually real,—the clouds of sense, howsoever dense they have seemed, melt away, and good is again proven to be the only power and presence. I am very thankful for the revelation of Truth in this age, given to the world through the unselfed labor of Mrs. Eddy. I hope daily to become more worthy to be called a Christian Scientist.
