In a report of a lecture under the caption "Intellectual and Spiritual Problems," reference is made to the subject of Christian Science. The lecturer stated that Christian Science was based upon false metaphysics, but he did not substantiate his statement by any proof; surely such a method could not be considered very convincing by any audience.

The practical evidences of the healing and saving power of the Word of God, as understood and practiced in Christian Science, are surely a sufficient answer to such a remark as the above, and these have during the last half century spread themselves in countless thousands all over the civilized world. Christian Science certainly does teach that God is the only cause and creator, and therefore that everything that is real must partake of the same qualities as the cause from which it emanates; otherwise there would be more than one creator, and God would cease to be infinite.

Speaking from the only real point of view, that of infinite intelligence, man is never an originator or creator, but he unfolds or reflects the thoughts which originate in the infinite Mind, or God. When man thinks something which is not in accord with the truth about God, he only thinks he thinks, and in consequence does not express the truth. As it is impossible in any science to conceive of a principle except through the idea which correctly expresses it, so real or true thinking, through which we gain an understanding of the Science of Christianity, can only be the consciousness of the attributes of God, who is the Principle of this Science of being.
