Because I have been helped so many times by reading...
Because I have been helped so many times by reading testimonies given in the Sentinel and Journal, I feel it my duty to give to others as I have received. I did not come to Christian Science for physical healing, but was drawn to it through living with some friends who were Scientists and who practiced their religion.
I have since had healings too numerous to mention, but the overcoming of ptomaine poisoning stands out in my memory as one of the most wonderful. I was taken sick in the evening, but was not acquainted with the symptoms of the disease, so tried to sleep, thinking the discomfort would soon pass away; but I awoke in the early morning hours with intense pain, which kept getting worse till it was almost unbearable. The friends who were with me tried the to know the truth about me, but they were very young in Science and were not able to destroy their fear ; so a telegram was sent to a Christian Science practitioner, asking for help. About two hours later I went to sleep, and awoke soon afterward without a pain. There was not a particle of soreness, and I was perfectly healed. I found that it took about an hour and a half for the message to reach the practitioner, and know it was the truth she was declaring for me that came to my consciousness before I went to sleep.
For the physical healing and other blessings that have come to me through the study and application of Christian Science I am truly grateful; it is indeed the truth that makes free. —Elizabeth Theodorson, Baker, Mont.
