So much good has come to me as a direct result of the teachings of Christian Science, that I should like to add my testimony to those already given. Four years ago, while living in Philadelphia, Pa., I was, according to sense-testimony, a physical wreck. After lying in bed eleven weeks, suffering intensely, I was told by the physician that an operation would be necessary, but I had always had a dread of the knife, so could not be reconciled to this ordeal.
Christian Science was mentioned to me by my sister, who knew nothing about it except that a business associate had been healed of an ugly disposition; indeed, the change in this person was so marked that every one with whom she came in contact noticed the transformation. A few copies of the Sentinel were brought to me from this lady, and after reading them I decided to try Christian Science. My husband therefore called on a practitioner and stated my condition to her, also the fear I entertained at the thought of an operation, with the result that after about two weeks' treatment I was out gathering violets.
The following Wednesday evening I attended my first testimony meeting, twice climbing a steep flight of stairs and descending the same to and from the elevated road, but knowing all the way that God was my strength. Upon entering the house on my return, the erroneous manifestation came away without a particle of pain. Truly Mind had performed the operation. Wishing to know more of this healing truth that had made me free, I began at once to study Science and Health, and as my concept of God changed and I learned that He is all-loving, Life, Truth, all things became new.
