Christian Science has never failed to help me, and it is...
Christian Science has never failed to help me, and it is therefore with a deep sense of gratitude that I try to express some of my love for Mrs. Eddy and her teachings. For the past ten years the truth as revealed to me through the study of Science and Health has been my only guide. It has helped me through a thorny pathway and brought me to peace. My home has been transformed from one of wretchedness and disorder to a place of love and joy. At the birth of each of my three children much help was received from Christian Science treatment; in fact the last baby was born with very little pain or inconvenience. These children have always relied entirely on the power of Truth for health and happiness, have never tasted medicine, and are sturdy, normal children.
One case stands out especially clear now,—that of an abscess, which was wonderfully and quickly healed. The trouble appeared quite suddenly underneath my eldest daughter's chin. There was great pain, with inflammation and swelling, and it soon became very severe. I wrestled with the fear in my own thought, and although I then knew little of the text-book, soon after my effort the child fell asleep. When she awakened all pain had gone, but the swelling still remained. This condition lasted for a fortnight longer, but from that first sleep there was no return of the pain.
On another occasion this same little girl, when climbing a tree, slipped and seemed to hurt herself badly. There was great pain and considerable bleeding, so it seemed necessary to put her to bed. I treated her as before, but she was very restless that night, and the next day at intervals seemed in intense pain. At night, however, peaceful sleep came to her, and that was the end of the trouble.
