At the birth of my first child, several years ago, the three...

At the birth of my first child, several years ago, the three doctors in attendance despaired of saving either the baby or myself. I recovered partially, but only to be told that I would have to be operated on before I could hope to be well. I had experienced healing in Christian Science on several occasions, but seemed to have drifted into the wrong thought to such an extent as to consider the operation necessary, and so was very much discouraged.

At this time a friend reminded me of Christian Science, and help was asked for. As a result I was soon well and strong, without having to undergo the operation. The year following I had an illness, but immediately wired for Christian Science treatment, and in three days was all right. Later, when another child was expected, I wrote for treatment and the practitioner helped me to overcome the pitfalls of fear, worry, and doubt. The rumor was current here that I could not pass through this experience, and much fear was expressed by my friends. This is a small community and a great deal of talking was done, so I soon had quite a struggle to overcome fear.

In engaging a doctor I tried to choose one who would not be antagonistic to Christian Science, and told him I was being treated in Science. He said a little of it was all right but no one could change a bodily malformation. I however told him that "with God all things are possible." The birth was perfectly harmonious, and my gratitude and joy knew no bounds when told we had a lovely baby girl. The following days were full of peace and happiness. The doctor made two friendly calls after the baby came, and said he wished all the homes he visited were as peaceful and happy as was ours. The baby is now a strong, beautiful child and is indeed a precious gift.
