It has been many years since I took up Christian Science...
It has been many years since I took up Christian Science for physical healing. Last winter I was taken with what is called typhoid pneumonia and struggled along for some time, not making much headway, and finally was obliged to ask for help. Of the next two or three weeks I have little recollection. The time came when I felt that the end was near, but with the help of the practitioner and the care of loving children I was soon up and walking alone. After that, complications developed in the form of acute stomach trouble, peritonitis, and appendicitis, but they also yielded to the power of Truth.
One day after these conditions had all been overcome, the practitioner came into my room and said she had not treated me for two weeks. Then I turned to God, thanking Him for the truth, and that at last I had learned how to work out my own salvation. Later my hair all fell out, but it is coming in thicker than ever before. Although I find each day some errors to be overcome, I feel grateful to our dear Leader for the "Key to the Scriptures," which teaches us how to understand the Bible that so long had been a sealed book to many. I am grateful for all of our Leader's writings, also the Sentinel, for our Lesson-Sermons, and for the testimonies given at our Wednesday evening meetings. I am learning that we can rest in safety, as we read in the ninety-first psalm, and can say, "Praise God, from whom all blessings flow!"—Attie A. Tillinghast, Oneonta, N. Y.
