[Written for the Sentinel]

Prayer

"Our Father which art in heaven"—
I paused and wondered where
I could find that beautiful place,
To rest in God's loving care,

For it seemed that our heavenly Father,
With all His protecting love,
Would surely not be far away
From His child where'er he rove.
Then these words quickly followed:
"In earth as it is in heaven,"
And I thought, Can it be that God is here,
Where with sin and sorrow we're driven?
For if God be here on earth today,
I shall my burden bring
And leave it with Him, and take refuge
'Neath Love's protecting wing.
