Duluth (Minn.) News Tribune
Christian Science exemplifies the Master's promise, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." This is the truth, about God and man's relation to Him, and is taught in Christian Science with the primitive simplicity which was characteristic of the teachings of the Master. Christian Science does not deny the seeming existence of pain, sin, and death as mortal experiences, but it does show, even as the Master taught, that by imbibing his precepts and bringing them out in daily practice, even as he overcame and destroyed those conditions, so we today accept of and receive the fulfilment of his promise, "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also."
Christian Science service is work in the cause of Truth, effort in the direction of the establishment of the kingdom of heaven here and now, and those who perhaps were indifferently interested in other forms of religion change their attitude through Christian Science because it presents to them that which is both practical and demonstrable and thus becomes a part of their daily lives. Men's views of religion differ in greatly varying degrees, and instead of ridiculing or condemning we should be grateful for any change in a man's attitude which indicates that he has cast his net on the side of God, — however feeble his efforts, — instead of drifting on the side of indifference, infidelity, atheism, or agnosticism.
Who gave the speaker referred to the right to judge between the true and the false? And by what authority does he arrogate to himself the privilege of asserting that he is right and earnest followers of other creeds are wrong? There is only one thing true, and that is the truth. Everything must be tested by it, and the result, if correct, must be demonstrated, and Christian Science furnishes this in every instance where it is conscientiously applied.
