"ONE ON GOD'S SIDE."

The erroneous view seems to obtain with some people that the evil thoughts of outsiders or of those with whom they are closely associated may prevent a complete recovery under Christian Science treatment. He who has made a close study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy cannot, however, have overlooked the passage which reads: "The transfer of the thoughts of one erring mind to another, Science renders impossible" (p. 211). Besides, are we not taught (p. 102) that "evil is not power"? The erroneous evil thoughts of those who oppose Christian Science and its adherents certainly cannot harm us when we realize that Truth reduces to nothingness every falsity. Wendell Phillips declared that "one on God's side is a majority." If I have the certain sense of being one with divine Love, and am convinced that I am a majority with God, how can evil, how can the evil thoughts of others which are a minority, do me harm? If I am one with invincible good, one with Truth and Love, is not the power given me to resist evil thoughts?

Christian Science would not be divine Science if it were not adequate to bruise the head of the serpent of evil in every form. The more we strive to realize good, to demonstrate Truth and Love, and the more we obey divine Principle, the more successful we shall be in overcoming evil of every kind. If we ever feel any doubt respecting this question, we have but to read the words of Christ Jesus as given in the tenth chapter of Luke's gospel, where he says, "Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you."
