If I could say something which would help any hungering and thirsting one, longing for rest and peace as I was at one time, I would be glad. I had tried many kinds of medicine and several different doctors before coming to Christian Science. At times I would be better, then worse than ever, one doctor calling the trouble neuralgia, another congestion, another stomach trouble, and so on. At this time a friend told me she had received great help from Christian Science and that it might help me. I wondered what Christian could be, so I read the literature that was given me. Then I came across statements that I could not accept, and I laid the book down, thinking I would never look at it again; but I could not leave it alone.

As time went on I received a letter from another friend, telling me that he was trying Christian Science and believed that it was going to help him. I then wrote and asked what Christian Science was, and the answer came telling me that it was the healing which Jesus taught. The friend also showed me that God, good, and devil, evil, were opposites, and that opposites could not both be real and true. This gave me my first glimpse of the truth, and then I was ready to look deeper into it. I became so much interested that I soon found I had not had one of my spells of suffering for quite a while. I had also asked this young Scientist for help, and I improved steadily and gained in spiritual understanding by my study. I feel that my life has been spared for the last twenty years by Christian Science.

At first I found it difficult to accept some statements which I found in Science and Health, but I reasoned that the Bible had always been a sealed book to me, and while it seemed difficult to accept some statements others were clear and beautiful and very interesting. As I studied on and on I gained a point here and there until I began to see that Christian Science was just what I had been looking for all my life.
